MINORITY GARDENING PROJECTS
Hispanic populations have increased dramatically in many rural communities, and Ag Connect is leading a program to "connect" these new residents to agriculture through gardening. These gardens offer families an opportunity to grow their food and work together, which develops a feeling of community spirit welcome! Additionally, the produce can be sold at local Farmer's Markets, as it has been here in Lenox, and develope some additional income for those minority families.
The Minority/Community gardens will seed good things in a rural community that will benifit everyone by what grows from it in the years to come!

VALUE-ADDED MEAT MARKETING
Ag Connect also works with farmers who want to produce and market meat more directly to the consumer.
Family farms raise high quality meat animals, but the common marketplace often fails to reward the farmer with a good price. There is a great potential for a win-win situation with both the producer and the consumer in value-added meat programs. The producer will recive a higher percentage of money the consumer pays for the meat and the consumer will enjoy the satisfaction of having higher quality meats from family farm producers. And this ensures the consumers will have foods that are good in both flavor and for the buyers health!

We work with meat producer groups such as:
